3+1 Arte Contemporânea is pleased to present ABASEDOTETODESABA (THEBASEOFTHECEILINGFALLS), a solo exhibition by Carlos Nunes (São Paulo, 1969).

Carlos Nunes’ work results from a reflection in which everyday objects, traces or marks, dialogue with a critical and poetic dimension, either through word, or through the technical processes used in the production of his works. A work sensitive to time, but also to materials, bringing together the weaknesses and contradictions of the time we are going through.

In ABASEDOTETODESABA (THEBASEOFTHECEILINGFALLS), a falling world, Carlos Nunes continues his most recent work. At 3+1 Arte Contemporânea, the artist shows work that start from the feeling of emptiness that has spread throughout the world in the last two years: on the one hand, the hollow, or the infinite hole, on the other, the attempt to find a relation with these contingencies in order to still, reach a balance. As words that can be read in both directions while maintaining their meaning, the palindromes highlighted in the exhibition evoke both the idea of imprisonment – the confrontation with a word that does not interrupt the circuit of itself, and the uninterrupted opportunity for a new start.

Carlos Nunes (São Paulo, 1969). Graduated in Visual Communication from Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado – FAAP, São Paulo. In 2005, Carlos Nunes moved to Buenos Aires, where he worked until 2007.
