Gabriela Machado (Joinville, Brazil, 1960) lives and works in Brazil. Her painting, sculpture and drawings tap into the artist’s surroundings and aesthetic compositions found in everyday life. Landscapes and still-life find their form through intense brush strokes, luminous colours and contrasting scales. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism from Universidade de Santa Úrsula. She completed her training in painting, drawing, free studio, metal engraving, lithography and other theory courses at Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage, as well as a course in Aesthetics and Art History taught by Ronaldo Brito at UniRio and PUC-Rio (Pontifícia Universidade Católica). She has exhibiting regularly since 1987 in Brazil and internationally.
